Helping put the community into banking

WaFd Bank

Scope

  • Public Relations

  • Community Engagement

WaFd Bank is a regional bank founded in 1917 in Seattle and has since expanded to a nine-state footprint throughout the West. The company is invested in delivering simple, straightforward banking solutions while also helping to build healthy and thriving communities.

WHY For Good works with WaFd Bank as a strategic partner to drive positive media coverage in the communities they serve. This includes the creation and implementation of campaigns on a macro level, designed to create brand awareness throughout the West Coast – no matter how big or small the community. Outreach campaigns have focused on financial literacy, small business support, and overall community engagement.

WaFd’s foundation commits more than $1 million per year to community-based nonprofits serving the needs of people with low- and moderate-incomes. WHY For Good works to generate awareness in the media of the great works the nonprofits do in their communities.

WHY For Good has also built strong connections with media across the bank’s footprint to support the implementation of a dedicated contributed content strategy.

In addition to media relations work, our team also provides ongoing ideation, support for community events, and overall public relations planning for WaFd Bank.

Through strategic storytelling, expertise and ideation, WHY For Good has helped WaFd Bank expand our PR outreach across our footprint, elevating our reputation, thought leadership and social impact efforts in spaces we were not previously able to reach. I wouldn’t work with anyone else.
